Judith and Michael Jamieson founded the Green Mountain Institute of Integrative Therapy in 1993 in Bennington, Vermont, after repeated requests to train others in emotion-based bodywork.
A husband and wife team with thirty years of experience in bodywork and counseling, they initially taught some of GMI's first classes through Bennington College, where they created an opportunity for students to study emotion-based bodywork abroad in Portugal.
GMI soon began to expand its program in Portugal, leaving Bennington College and opening its Portugal program to the general public - creating a format that allows for anyone to engage in intensive bodywork study as a foundation for professional practice.
Today, the Portugal Foundation Program attracts students from around the world.
In February of 2013, Judith Jamieson died after a courageous, 14-month battle with cancer. Her passing was marked by a tremendous outpouring of love and gratitude from family and friends, former students and clients from around the world.
Today, Judith's spirit lives on in every aspect of the Institute's work. Under the direction of Michael Jamieson, the faculty and staff of the Institute carry out Judith's legacy of passionate, inspired teaching.
