    OF

    INTEGRATIVE THERAPY

In a cultural environment that strongly differentiates between the mind and the body, and where bodywork has been relegated by most schools to a purely physical experience, the Green Mountain Institute provides students with invaluable insight into the emotional and energetic aspects of bodywork.

Most people understand massage as being helpful in relieving physical tension and discomfort through the relaxation of tight muscles in their body - however, that muscle tension is often the direct result of stress and emotional suppression.

GMI believes that bodywork and massage are practical tools with which the bodyworker can offer the client an opportunity to release not just physical tension and discomfort, but also the underlying emotional suppression at its root.

Our bodywork programs emphasize opening the flow of energy by reducing the muscle tension that directly blocks it - increasing the ability of the client to breathe freely, and working directly with the flow of energy itself.  As a result, our students learn techniques for stimulating and balancing the flow of qi in themselves and in others, as well as increasing their perception and awareness of life energy.

Taught alongside emotional release techniques with breath, movement, and expression, bodywork at GMI is an opportunity to explore the freeing up of life energy: the force which enlivens us physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
