Massage Training Testimonials
What Others Say About Green Mountain Institute's Massage and Bodywork Training Programs in Vermont and Abroad
"The workshop itself is one of the most amazing experiences that I have encountered in my life. When I received the literature about the workshop there was a phrase that really grabbed my attention and confirmed my desire to participate: "It will be a time of personal growth and discovery."
Through a series of amazing exercises and activities it did, in fact, turn into a time of incredible personal growth and discovery for me.
We had a very diverse and dynamic group which bonded very quickly, and with expert and caring leadership from Michael and Judith, our instructors, we were guided through the mysteries of the human body, learned about massage theory, history and ethics, and slowly but surely learned the physical mechanics of giving massage.
But for me the most important part of the course was learned through the special group activities that brought us together as a "family", helping us break down barriers and break through inhibitions, teaching us to be very aware of ourselves and others in spatial and emotional relationship with each other, and giving us something very unique: a totally focused way of being "present", of bringing yourself the giver to the massage on a mental, physical, emotional and spiritual level and also to have an awareness that the body on the table, the receiver, is also a being made up of those same four qualities.
In the two years that I have practiced massage therapy since the workshop the majority of my clients who have received massage from other therapists comment on this fact saying that they feel I am not just massaging their bodies but that it feels like I am taking care of their hearts and souls too. I am truly grateful for the awesome experience that I had in Luz - and to think that it gave me a whole new career at age 55!!"

"I loved learning massage from the Jamiesons. It was a really fun process. At first I worried that I had to put away my feeling mode and switch into my learning/brainmode. It turned out that I didn't have to do that. Every part of me felt welcome, and was in fact necessary to learn.
We found the muscles on each other as we learned the names of them. We practiced how to be present with a client as we learned a specific stroke that felt good. We talked about how it felt to give and receive a massage and received practical knowledge about how to handle different situations. Judith and Michael were extremely generous teachers. They seemed to be really in touch with different learning styles and needs within the group and to be able to accommodate everyone. It was very thorough learning yet it did not progress slowly. I think because of this and all the practical experience, I learned massage on a very deep level."
"A wholesome training program in the true sense that not only strengthened me physically, but most important emotionally and spirtually-a true turning point in my life."
