Special Benefits of Training at Green Mountain Institute

Small student-faculty ratio

For most of the programs we offer there are two teachers and only 6 to 12 students. This allows for personalized attention well beyond that usually available in massage training. It provides the opportunity to teach each student according to how she or he learns best. There is time for plenty of assistance when practicing, including the opportunity to have strokes performed on you by the teacher so you can experience how they should feel.

Two teacher system

Most of our programs are taught by two teachers. In addition to increasing the amount of personal attention our students receive this permits one teacher to demonstrate, focusing completely on what they are doing, while the other teacher describes what is being done and answers questions. The two teacher system also provides an opportunity to see two different practitioners work and to have the insight and experience of two individuals.

Our focus on the quality of touch

We spend a great deal of time working on the quality of touch and presence through a variety of unique experiential exercises. We believe that, while technique is important, and learning specific strokes and sequences contributes to the excellence of your massage, it is the quality of your presence, as manifested in your touch, that really makes an effective body worker.
